With deep sorrow, we report that former Michigan Mayflower Society Governor, Terry John McKane passed away on September 22, 2025, at age 84.

A descendant of Mayflower passenger, Richard Warren, Terry was the Michigan Mayflower Society's Governor from 1986-1992 and 2001-2007. He had the title of Elder from 2000-2001 and 2010-2016. He was succeeded as Elder by his daughter, Heather McKane Bolthouse. Previously, Terry served as Deputy Governor from 1983-1986. He was a Mayflower Society member for 50 years.

Born and raised in the Lansing area, Terry had a lifetime of service as a teacher, City Councilman and Mayor of Lansing. Terry is survived by Virginia, his wife of 56 years; three children and eight grandchildren.

The Michigan Mayflower Society was graced by Terry's wisdom, faith, wit, and energy. He will be greatly missed. Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
