There are over 35 million Mayflower descendants worldwide. Are you one of them?

SPECIAL NOTICE:
Acting Historian General, Michael R. Denney has clarified how the Mayflower Lineage Match program (MLM) works. Please scroll to the bottom of this page, for more information.

The Society of Mayflower Descendants in Michigan invites you to join us!

How do I get started?

Complete the Preliminary Application form and Proposed Line of Descent form from the links below. Send these along with the required fees and documentation to Lee Bennett of our Historian Team. Lee's address is on the Preliminary Application form.

The new GSMD guidelines require that all supporting records and other documentation be submitted as separate jpg files. If you do not have the ability to provide them in this format, please contact Deputy Historian, Lee Bennett, who will assist you with an alternative solution.

Lee Bennett will guide you through the membership application process. For more detailed information click on the links below:

Some of our membership benefits:

  • Two annual luncheons with educational speakers
  • Scholarships are available for eligible junior and family members
  • Lifetime memberships available, requiring no annual dues
  • New friendships with member cousins

A new member application is $212 (This includes the $160 application fee, plus $52 for first year dues). You can also opt to pay $160, plus a one-time-only dues payment based upon your age, for life membership.

For Life Membership information see Dues And Fees.

The Passenger Inheritance Program is now available!

PIP is an opportunity for members to "inherit" ancestors from their sibling, parent or grandparent (or even their child or grandchild) without completing an application. And - here's the best part - each PIP is a flat fee of $150.00, regardless how many ancestors are available to inherit.

The PIP program will be handled exclusively by the GSMD - the member societies are not involved with the process. To find out more about this new program, please visit the GSMD website at https://themayflowersociety.org/, and log in via the Members Only section. From the Members Only page, select Members Landing, and then, Passenger Inheritance Program from the sidebar, for full details.

The Mayflower Lineage Match (MLM)

The Mayflower Lineage Match (MLM) program is designed to assist individuals exploring a possible connection to a Mayflower passenger. By submitting information about your ancestry, our team will search our database to determine whether any proven lineages match your family line. If you are exploring Mayflower ancestry and are not yet a member, we welcome your inquiry through the MLM program.

Please note:

  • Current members should not use the MLM program to explore additional ancestral lines.  If we know that you are a member and attempt to use the MLM program, as a courtesy we will refund your fee.
  • If you are already a member of The Mayflower Society wishing to pursue a supplemental application, please contact your Member Society Historian directly. They can assist you with reviewing and verifying any additional lineage.

Important: To clarify: the MLM service is not included as a benefit of Mayflower membership and is not complimentary for members..

Webmaster note:

The MLM program is administered by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants in Plymouth. Non-members, for a fee of $75, are able to submit a proposed Mayflower lineage, in order to find if their proposed line is valid. To the extent that some generations have already been proven by others, the non-member can have some idea which generations still need to be proven. This program is not for Members!

However, members may present their lineage to our Michigan Historian, who will run a lineage match at no cost to the member. The best way to do this, is to complete the fillable Line of Descent form found on our Membership page, and email it to Historian, Char Tavarozzi. Usually this will be a precursor to making a supplemental application.
